This custom manufactured pannier to fit a rare KTM Paris-Dakar race bike needed to be able to carry a 5 Litre of fuel bladder down each leg of the pannier, as well as carrying clothes and spare parts for the riders high speed and sometimes long expeditions into Australia's outback.

Our customer came in and requested a custom manufactured pannier to fit his specific KTM Paris-Dakar race bike, being only 1 of 4 in the World. The client needed to be able to carry a 5 Litre  fuel bladder down each leg of the pannier, as well as carrying clothes and spare parts for his expeditions into Australia's outback.

The complexity of this project was that it was not a mass produced motorcycle, and therefore time had to be spent designing and cutting templates, in order to get the correct fitting and specific shape and finish the customer requested, with no sample available.

The front edge of the pannier needed to lean back at a specific angle to allow the rider to stand up and lean back whilst riding in deep sand at speeds of up to 180 klms per hour, the rear of the pannier also needed to come up and to the rear of bike to clear lights and give larger carrying capacity.

All mounting points had to be extremely well reinforced to withstand the rigor of high speed trail riding.

Allowances also needed to be made to clear dual exhausts to avoid burning holes or heat damage to PVC and allow for foot movement on foot pegs.

Extra strapping with loops have been sewn across top of pannier to allow for additional items to be strapped on.

The black panels on the lower sections on the pannier are double thickness of PVC, to withstand the harsh bush and sand the customer is riding through.

Our customer has since returned from some of his expeditions. He expressed how extremely happy he is with the performance of the project I manufactured for him, and that I met and exceeded all of his expectations.
