This project involved replacing Bonded Acrylic Clear enclosure - 10 panels in total on a Viking 53
The original enclosure was 10 years old and in desperate need of replacement. The client uses his boat extensively through summer for game fishing, so he was needing a strong and high clarity enclosure and had expectations of the same longevity.
The enclosure had served the owner well and he wanted the same or better.
This acrylic clear is an american product and not widely used in Australia, so to create the same or better was the biggest challenge.
Instead of sewing reinforcing around all the edges, it has to be bonded with the right glue. after this bonding, the edges are finished with zippers and bolt ropes sewn to the reinforcing.
Changes were able to be made to the original enclosure by simplifying the design. These changes improved the function and gave the area a less busy look.
