Project Title: Expo Milano

Name Of Fabric: Mehler FR1000 Supplier: Mehler

Project Description: A 45,000 square metre fabrication for the 2015 Milan Expo in Italy.

What is the purpose of this project? The client requested a membrane roof with a specific so-called "trend" design that would be the symbol for the EXPO 2015 in Milan. It was to be based on the model of a Roman city, with a 1,500 metre long "Decumano" and a 350 metre long north-south axis "Cardo" that together covered the walkway over the main road among the country pavilions.

What is unique or complex about this project? The project is unique as it is a design for the 2015 EXPO in Milan. The design itself is also a unique walkway structure and the sheer size made it complex in terms of design and also transport/installation. A key challenge was also the very short lead time.

Was there anything different or special about this project? Our company ran a very tight program and took special care in ensuring the fabrication was carried out with little interruptions and problems. The long experience of the team meant that the solution through effective time management and attention to detail lead to a successful execution of the project.

What were the results of the project? The fabric was fabricated on time and to specifications in time to be installed in Milan for it to be enjoyed by EXPO guests.

How did you contribute to the project: Our company contributed our years of experience and expertise in fabrication to create a stunning structure for all to be enjoyed at a high profile event such as EXPO Milano.
