FAQ’s about Membership

Am I eligible for membership?

Any person, firm or company which is engaged in the industry predominantly manufacturing goods using canvas, leather or allied synthetic fabrics, or which supplies fabrics or componentry or services to those doing so, for commercial, industrial, agricultural, marine, automotive, recreational, or domestic use, shall be eligible to apply for membership.

How much is membership and how can I pay?

Our membership rate is a tired fee structure based on average number of employees within your business. Find the current available rates below:

1-5 employees - $510

6-15 employees - $855

16 or more employees - $1155

Associate and Affiliate memberships are also available:

Associate member rate - $160

Affiliate member rate - $190

You can pay for membership online when you submit your application form by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or PayPal.

What is the difference between an Associate membership and an Affiliate membership?

An Associate member is any person, firm or company which is not qualified for membership of the Association but which is interested in the objectives of the Association and shall be eligible for admission as an associate of the Association.

An Affiliate member is any person, firm or company which is a member of an organisation affiliated with the Specialised Textiles Association as determined by Council and may apply for admission as an affiliate provided such applicant is not a current member or past member of the Association.

Organisations currently affiliated with Specialised Textiles are:

  • Outdoor Fabric Products Association of New Zealand (OFPANZ)
  • Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI)
  •  

Associate and Affiliate members are not entitled to vote any meetings of the Association and have limited access to the full suite of benefits the association offers to full members.

How long does my membership last for?

All STA memberships expire by the 31st March of each year. The length of your membership will depend on when you became a member that year.

When is the best time to join STA?

You can become a member at time of the year. If you join after July 1st and before March 31st a pro-rata rate will apply.

 What happens after I join?

Once your application has been processed and has been approved by the Council of management you will receive an email from our office confirming your membership. You will also receive a membership pack in the mail containing your Membership Certificate, Confirmation Letter and your username and password to access the member only areas on our website.
